Put simply, this is the time of year where things start to get weird in college football. Teams are banged up, some good teams have little to play for, players opting out etc.
And the lines largely reflect that in Week 12 of the college football season.
The first and most obvious interesting line comes in Columbus in the biggest game of the weekend. Michigan State and Ohio State will both be in the Top 10 of the next College Football Playoff poll, yet Ohio State is over a two score favorite. Part of that may be the Buckeyes big win over Purdue - but could it also be that the Spartans defense can be exposed through the air? It seems that way.
In terms of interesting lines, what might be even more interesting is the fact that Oregon - the No. 3 ranked team according to the College Football Playoff rankings - is actually a slight underdog at Utah. The Ducks clearly need to win out to make the College Football Playoff, but the oddsmakers seem to think this weekend they'll go down in Salt Lake City.
Finally some other interesting notes, as Alabama is nearly a three-touchdown favorite against Arkansas, Clemson is a field goal favorite against the perceived best team in the ACC (Wake Forest) and UCLA opens as a slight favorite over cross-city rival USC at the LA Coliseum.
